Gracie vs. the Scale.

103_0598

We had to take Gracie for a weight check when she was 4 days old (2 days after we came home from the hospital). She had lost 1 pound, which put her at 11% loss from her birth weight. Since she had lost more than 10% of her birth weight, they wanted us to give her some formula, along with nursing. They gave us a long, thin tube attached to a syringe. You tape the tube to your finger and then put your finger in her mouth and she sucks the formula through the tube. Beware, if she is hungry she will suck your finger off. We had to take her back for a weight check the following day and she was up a few ounces. Then, we had to take her back after 2 more days. She had gone down a few ounces so we had to increase the amount of formula we were giving her. And, we had to take her back in 24 hours. The next day she had gained a few ounces. We again had to go back in 24 hours. I think we went for a weight check almost every day last week. It is one of the only places I have been since Gracie was born. =P On Sunday they decided she had gained enough weight that we didn't need to come back. Yesterday, she went in for her 2 week check-up. She got a good report. She isn't back up to her birth weight, but the doctor was too concerned. She weighed 7 pounds 12.5 ounces and her birth weight was 8 pounds 3 ounces. She is almost there. We have to go back next week; but, we don't have to go in for any weight checks in between. The doctor also wants to check the bump on her head, from the vacuum at birth. But, overall she is very healthy. And, they thought she was cute.

I Scrapped!

I am so excited. I made a page yesterday!:   I found a sketch  online and is that ever the way to go. I was able to finish this during Gracie's naptime! How awesome is that? I love naptime. =) I loved not having to sit there and figure out where to put everything. It totally took away the pressure. I used my new goodies , which was also super fun. I love having pre-coordinated stuff to choose from. I also love that it came with these . This was the first scrapbook page I have made for/of Gracie and it felt great. It was awesome to record memories for her. I am not sure if I love the sticker in between the 2 photos, but it is a sticker and it won't come off. So, it stays. Perfection is not my game, people. I liked that the sketch had a place for paper, and helped me layer the paper, and had a place for the title and journal, but that was it. So, the rub-ons across the top and the sticker were my additions. I also changed were the journaling was supposed to be. There ...

Babywise Bootcamp.

We are engaged in a little Babywise  boot-camp at our house. Gracie's sleeping has gotten pretty bad and we have to do something. So, we are cracking down on her. It is not easy. Listening to her cry is just about the wost thing ever. I have been following the eat-play-sleep cycle from Babywise , but not much else. I have been putting her to sleep, while she listens to the vacuum cleaner or the stove fan. She is so used to napping on me that she won't sleep in her bed during the day. So, I end up holding her for nap-time so that she will actually take a nap. She does okay in her bed at night, most of the time. In the past week she has been up twice for 2-hour stretches in the middle of the night. As much as I love her, this isn't Mommy's favorite time to hang out with Gracie. It has become quite a struggle to get her to go to sleep and stay asleep. We are experiencing too many evenings of Gracie crying because she is up too late and can't fall asleep. Last nig...

Sunday.

This is a cute picture, of a cute girl, who really needs a bath. This girl hates her bath so I really have to gear up for it. Daddy said not to give her a bath while he is at work--something about Gracie needing extra emotional support... =P She will be getting a bath when Daddy gets home from work. Absolutely. What else had Gracie been up to? She is starting to recognize us. She will occasionally look up at me and smile. Other times she looks at me like "who are you again?". Yeah. She is starting to "talk" a little bit. She can get her fist up to her mouth and suck on her hand. Sometimes. She will lay on the floor on her blanket for short periods of time. She hung out in her swing for a little while this morning. She loves to be in the sling . Unfortunately, she has been fighting some tummy issues. She was getting more formula and I think it was upsetting her tummy. Big time. So, we are back to just nursing. That has helped some but she still get "the gases...
